Description: Records of the UWM Department of History which documents the correspondence of various chairpersons, the function of committees, and the minutes of general departmental meetings. Of particular interest is the 1988 Department of History Directory which contains biographical information on past and present faculty and administrative assistants, lists of chairpersons for the important committees, and a brief history of the department. UWM Chancellor Werner Baum and Mayor Henry Maier initiated the Goals for Greater Milwaukee 2000 Project to analyze the contemporary and future strengths of Milwaukee. The collection contains the Project's correspondence with participants, eleven audio tapes of oral history interviews, and publicity files. "Urbanism Past& Present" was a periodical sponsored by the Department of History which ceased in 1985. The files contain information on the founding, history, mission, meetings, and editorial decisions of the journal. Finding aid available in the Archives.
